A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye. State-of-the-art cataract surgery is performed at William Beaumont Hospital with the Alcon Infinity phacoemulsification device.  The lens is removed with ultrasonic energy and a new lens implant is placed.  This lens often decreases your dependence on glasses.  Cataract surgery should typically not be performed until your vision is affecting your activities of daily living. We offer surgery with Alcon IQ Restor lens for presbyopia and Alcon IQ Toric lens for astigmatism.

A glasses and contact lens prescription may be requested at any visit.  Dr. Swami (not a technician) performs all glasses refractions and determines all contact lens prescriptions.

Injuries to the eyes can be scary and painful.  In most cases we are able to see emergencies the same day and help you recover quickly.

Glaucoma is a disease usually with increased pressure in the eye which leads to damage to the optic nerve and can progress to blindness. At every visit, we screen for glaucoma. Treatment may consist of surgery or eye drops.
